Threads of Transformation

"Within the space of two months in the summer of 2020, I lost my dad, then my mom, and was diagnosed with breast cancer that would require surgery, chemo, and radiation. At the same time, my relationship with my co-director fell apart in ways I could never have imagined and I decided to let go of an organization that I had built from scratch for 16 years. Throw in a move across the country, loss of a work family, as well as close knit community in Winnipeg, and a pandemic to add to the mix.

Despite this profound loss on so many levels, I felt this resistance when my dear friend Robin invited me to her debut of Re-Imagjning Loss but wanted to support her in new role as an Imagination Doula.

My resistance melted when I found a genuine whole hearted community where we could hold each other’s grief, explore grief and creativity, and laugh together in recognition of our shared experiences. There was nothing that felt rote or predictable each session, which I appreciated having run a training organization. Robin was always prepared and was able to create a beautiful safe space for everything to unfold. Through this year, I have been able to move through this crazy year more whole and creatively in a large part to this group. I could not be more grateful to Robin and the women in my cohort."
